Sojun Mel Weitsman will be stepping down from his long-held position of abbot of the Berkeley Zen Center and Hozan Alan Senauke will be stepping up sometime soon. I don't know any details. Please pass them on if you do know. Shunryu Suzuki sent Mel to Berkeley in 1967 so he's been in charge since then. He officially became abbot in the seventies. He's 90 now.
