In 1939 Soyo Matsuoka, a Soto Zen priest, came to the US. He was cheif priest of Zenshuji in LA and Sokoji in San Francisco. He established a Zen Center in Chicago. Michael Elliston, teacher at the Atlanta Soto Zen Center is a dharma heir of Matsuoka. Someone just inquired about him and I thought it's a good time to remind ourselves about this oft forgotten teacher.
