Aware
To be enlightened does not mean to be aware of
it. Do you understand? To be aware of it would be for him to observe himself
objectively. When he attained enlightenment, that was being aware of himself.
But to enlighten himself means to have confidence in himself, to accept himself
as he is, to accept “that I am here.” --------------------------- Excerpt from Shunryu Suzuki lecture - 68-10-21 as found on shunryusuzuki.com. Edited by DC - Going through Suzuki lectures and posting anything that can stand on its own. Not looking for zingers or "the best of." I find that following these excerpts daily provides another way to experience Suzuki's teaching. - DC
