There is very famous koan, you know. A man who
climb up to the top of a pole. If he stays here [tapping on stick, probably
held to represent the pole], he is not enlightened one. When he jump off from
the top of the pole, he may be a enlightened one. This is koan.
How we understand this koan is how we understand our practice. Why do we have something which should be thrown away is because we stay
at top of a pole. Because we stay at top of a pole, you have a problem. But actually there is no top for the pole-- it continues endlessly
