On that moment [that you say "Yes I will" follow the precepts forever], that moment includes its own past and future. That moment will be extended to the four directions and past and future. That is also true. So, as you practice zazen, you know, you should say, “I will do it” without being involved in doubt whether you can observe it forever or not. There's no need from the beginning, you know, [laughs] to say, “No, I cannot.” You cannot say so.
