Time

According to a mechanical understanding of life, the idea of time is discontinuity. And determinism is based on idea of continuity. In the idea of time as discontinuity—many things exist—things exist as one of many.  Here we have no idea of time.            --------------------------- Excerpt from Shunryu Suzuki  lecture 66-08-17N - as found on shunryusuzuki.comfrom one of the newly discovered (2021) lecture tapes. Edited by DC  - Going through Suzuki lectures and posting anything that can stand on its own. Not looking for zingers or "the best of." I find that following these excerpts daily provides another way to experience Suzuki's teaching. Go to https://www.instagram.com/cuke_archives/ for more daily Shunryu Suzuki lecture excerpts - with a photo.

DC Comment: Hard to figure out if his "Here we have no idea of time" is about we Buddhists or not. But I know he says that time is both continuous and discontinuous and warns against sticking to either side so that leaves both or neither, i.e. no idea.
