Nothing Permanent

Even people who are not satisfied with a materialistic way of life, as long as their view of life is based on some substantial viewpoint of existence, they cannot get out of a materialistic way of life. Even though they seek for some spiritual life, in their spiritual life there are various materialistic values. When nothing concrete exists, nothing permanent exists. There is nothing that does not change. —Excerpt from Shunryu Suzuki lecture - 68-01-11B - as found on shunryusuzuki.com edited by PF.
