Drugs

More important thing than the stage which you will attain is the sincerity or true understanding of practice and right effort for our traditional practice. This point is very important. When you understand this point you will understand how important it is to keep your posture right. When you do not understand this point, the posture we take, the way of breathing, is just a means to attain enlightenment. If it is so it may be better to take some drugs instead of cross-legged position. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [Excerpt from Shunryu Suzuki lecture 67-01-05Edited by DC - Shunryu Suzuki lecture excerpts on cuke.com - from there links to much more. - Go to cuke.com Wha at's New [now at blogger] to see more daily posts.]

Trying

Even though you are trying to attain enlightenment, that is a part of karma. You create karma, you are driven by karma, and wasting time on black cushion. That is repetition of the karma -- from Bodhidharma’s understanding of our practice.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [Excerpt from Shunryu Suzuki lecture 67-01-05Edited by DC - Shunryu Suzuki lecture excerpts on cuke.com - from there links to much more. - Go to cuke.com Wha at's New [now at blogger] to see more daily posts.]

Spinning

The Buddhist life should not be karma life. Our purpose of practice is to cut off the karmic spinning mind.

Phillip Wilson

Some notes taken from 1996 talk with Phillip Wilson (rip).

There's a lot on Phillip on cuke. This is just a bit more.

This is one of a dozen pieces just transcribed while at Johanneshof - from audio notes I made in 2011 from a pile of hand-written notes including a few interviews. Sort of embarrassing that there's still stuff from the last century not entered into the digital archive. But at least it's not lost like some other. - dc

Karma

We always are creating some egoistic idea and are following the egoistic idea, and we will repeat this process over and over again, and our life will be occupied by egoistic idea completely. This is so-called karmic life -- karma ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [Excerpt from Shunryu Suzuki lecture 67-01-05Edited by DC - Shunryu Suzuki lecture excerpts on cuke.com - from there links to much more. - Go to cuke.com Wha at's New [now at blogger] to see more daily posts.]
